Reflection on Finding Bagdad on a Map article.

Someone has to start this thing off right?

I thought the article by Geoff Johnson raised some interesting points in reference to technology in the classroom.   It is interesting that we seem to learn a collection of facts most of which one could look up with either the appropriate technology or book. And of course in our technological age books are becoming a thing of the past. I thought his direction is one that education will have to take as time continues on students and parents rightfully should demand a system based more on inquiry and self-discovery than on the method of the teacher holding all the knowledge and giving it to the students in 1-hour chunks of time.  I really like the idea of using the technology students already possess or the internet with a classroom to show YouTube clips or other interesting material to students that is linked to or and extension of the subject matter being taught in the classroom. As an educator I think being relevant is extremely important in engaging students and keeping them interested in learning and a part of the learning process. Inside a framework that makes sure the students are using their resources on class related work I don’t see why utilizing the technology that exists for these students would be a bad thing.
